You Can’t Reach Your Goals by Focusing on What you DON’T Want

How much time do you spend each day focusing on what you DON’T want vs. focusing on what you DO want?

I don’t know about you, but my mind is always happy to run free with worst-case scenarios if I allow it. It’s like the “default” setting is one of doom and gloom. I see this with many of my clients as well.

Maybe you grew up in an environment of scarcity. Maybe you learned this habit some other way. Regardless of how you learned it, its time to change it.

You have the incredible power to create with your thoughts, so focusing on what you don’t want is actually getting in the way of reaching your goals.

You simply can’t spend all that mental energy creating a picture of what could go wrong AND be inspired toward creating your dreams. Wouldn’t it feel so much better to focus on all the wonderful possibilities you have before you?

I spend a few minutes every morning clarifying the vision I have for myself and focusing deliberately on what I want to create. I do this in my journal, and in meditation. I find it makes a tremendous difference in how I go through the rest of the day.

When I sit down to work, I’m clear about what I want to accomplish. I’m inspired to do my work. I’m eager to make progress toward my goals.

Then, when issues arise during the day, which they will, I’m less likely to get derailed by them.

Try this for a week. You’ll love the difference it makes in your life.
